Objective
Nottinghamshire Police had a long running un-solved murder case, they had various lines of investigation, but decided to use a Mobile Digital TV Van. A high impact police initiative was planned to find the murderer of Caroline Coyne, who was only 26 when she was murdered. Within 24 hours Media Displays had a mobile unit operational at three locations in Nottingham. Information and pictures were tactically used on the 6 metre LED screen aimed at gaining further lines of enquiry. Nottinghamshire Police held interviews with local press and TV crews, using their latest weapon to leverage interest and differentiate previous appeals. The screen displayed various images as well as CCTV pictures of the murder suspect and a offered of a £20,000 reward for anyone who could identify the killer.
Target
Nottinghamshire Police appealed to the local community and anyone who had any information regarding this serious crime.
Results
Within 48 hours police arrested and charged a 26 year old man with the murder of Caroline Coyne.
Inspector Heydon, lead investigator, stated:
"It has been fantastic; we have had a lot of interest from the public. A lot of people have come forward with information and shown a lot of interest in the images, which is exactly what I wanted to achieve. I want people to see this footage, keep looking at this footage and see whether they can identify this person".
No other information is available; the Court Case is underway at this time. Carl Powell 23 denies murdering Ms Colyne and three further allegations relating to a second woman - false imprisonment, false imprisonment with intent to commit a sexual offence and sexual assault.
